Dynamic Talk Groups
Dynamic Talk Groups (DTG) are a special type of Assigned Channel that allows Patch Administrators to assign other channels as participants. When activated, all channels subscribed to the DTG receive audio, notifications, and messages sent over the DTG. All participating channels are patched. Any audio transmitted on the participating channel will be heard on the DTG and vice versa.
DTG may be activated when needed, and deactivated when not. The following diagram illustrates the configuration of a DTG.
| Before activation, the DTG patch is inactive and the DTG Channel operates as any standard Assigned Channel. Once activated, transmissions over the DTG are patched with all Member Channels. All users on all channels in the DTG may communicate via the patch. The patch remains active until deactivated by a Patch Administrator. Once deactivated, all patching ceases and the DTG channel returns to the functionality of a standard Assigned Channel. |
Dynamic Talk Group Rules
Dynamic Talk Groups have the following attributes and/or requirements:

The Dynamic Talk Groups UI is only available in ICE Desktop. ICE Mobile users can operate DTG channels and participate in DTG patches, but cannot create, edit, activate, or deactivate DTG.

Only users and administrators with the
Patch Administrator privilege can create and manage DTGs. The
Dynamic Talk Groups pages in ICE Desktop do not appear in the
Settings menu for other users.

Default settings for DTGs are provided to assist during DTG creation. They appear in the
Settings > Dynamic Talk Groups page to the right of the main list. Ensure the default settings resolve to a functioning DTG.

Only users (People) who are members of the DTG may transmit over the DTG. All other users may only communicate through the patched channels when the DTG is active.

Local cross-mute and looping prevention are handled by the system.

Channel Participant Requirements:
► The same Duplex Mode is required for all channels.
► Channels currently participating in another active patch when the DTG is activated will not be patched. A channel can only be a member of one active patch at a time.
► Channel participants may include other DTGs.
► Tactical Channels are not supported.
