Editing a Tactical Channel
ICE Mobile allows you to edit the Tactical Channels within a Mission, however, your changes are not propagated to other users until you share the modified Mission. See Sharing a Mission.
If Use mission connection settings for all audio channels is active, then all Tactical Channels inherit their Address and Port configuration from the Mission settings. To change them, you must first edit the Mission and turn off Use mission connection settings for all audio channels. You can then edit the Tactical Channels in the Mission.
To edit a Tactical Channel
1. Tap Menu > Tactical.
2. Tap the Expand icon to expose the Tactical Channels.
3. Tap the Edit (pencil) icon of the Tactical Channel to edit.
4. If prompted, enter the PIN for this Mission.
5. Configure the following Tactical Channel Settings as needed.
*Name
Specifies the name of the Mission. Visible to others.
*Description
Optionally, provide a description of the Mission. Only visible when editing a Mission.
*PIN
Optionally, enter a PIN to lock editing of this Mission.
*Expiration Date
Optionally, select a date for the expiration of the Mission.
Start Mission Control Fields
The following fields may be inherited by the Tactical Channels created in this Mission.
*Automatic Channel Identification
Toggles activation of the Channel ID field appearing below the selection. On by default. When active, the channel ID is displayed for copying or editing.
*Use mission connection settings for all audio channels
Activates inheritance. When selected, all channels inherit the settings specified in the Mission Control section. If these settings are updated, all channels in the Mission are also updated.
*RallyPoint
Automatically assigned or inherited from the Mission. Specifies the IP or FQDN and port of the RallyPoint used by this channel or RallyPoint mesh.
*Receive Address and Port
Automatically assigned or inherited from the Mission. ICE Mobile receives audio over this address and port. Do not change these values unless you intend to specify a different audio reception address and port.
*Transmit Address and Port
Automatically assigned or inherited from the Mission. ICE Mobile transmits audio over this address and port. Do not change these values unless you intend to specify a different audio transmission address and port.
End Mission Control Fields
The following fields do not inherit and are specific to this Tactical Channel only.
*Encryption
Not inherited. Toggles local audio encryption for this Tactical Channel only. Uses the authenticator value specified below rather than the value in the Encryption section of Mission settings.
*New Authenticator
Generates a new authenticator value in the Encryption field for local audio encryption.
*Header Extensions
When enabled, Tactical Identity is used for callsigns when user names appear in ICE clients. When disabled, every user appears as External system.
*Codec
Automatically assigned or inherited from the Mission. Specifies the Codec used by this Tactical Channel.
*Interoperability
Default is off. Turn on to enable Codec Value Translation for interoperation with specific radio systems. This feature translates the ID value used to identify codecs. Instructions for using this feature are in Appendix A: Codec Value Translation.
*Framing
Specifies the maximum duration of audio frames transmitted by this channel. Smaller frames increase network overhead but can result in better audio quality. Larger frames decrease network overhead, but audio quality decreases when packets are lost. Default is 60ms.
*Full Duplex
Half Duplex channels (the default) do not permit users to transmit and receive simultaneously. When Full Duplex is active, users can transmit over the top of each other, and other users will hear both audio streams simultaneously (as with a telephone call). Full Duplex is often undesirable in PTT because it becomes more difficult for users to understand what is being said when multiple users are speaking at the same time.
*Limit Transmit
Off by default. When enabled, allows you to set the maximum amount of time in seconds that a user can transmit over this channel. Transmissions exceeding this duration result in an error tone and termination of the PTT.
*RTP TTL
Specifies the Time to Live for RTP packets on this channel. TTL controls how many hops an RTP packet can make across routers and intermediate network devices. Each time a packet passes through a router, its TTL is decremented by one.
*Alias
Specifies the Alias for this channel.
