The ICE Gateway component facilitates communication between ICE push-to-talk systems and telephone and wireline-connected land mobile radio systems. It enables ICE users to make and receive telephone calls and allows telephone callers to dial into specially configured channels. When dialed into a channel, telephone callers use the asterisk (*) to initiate speaking ('take the floor') and the pound sign (#) to relinquish control. It is important to note that the ICE Gateway component is not utilized for private calls between ICE users.
