Appendix H: Database Operations
This section describes how to create and restore backups of your ICE Server's Cassandra Database. Apache Cassandra is an open-source non-SQL database. ICE uses Cassandra to store ICE configuration data, user data, and audio recordings.
ICE Server periodically creates a backup of the Cassandra database. A backup is required to restore the ICE Server's Cassandra database, or to migrate it from an existing installation to a new installation. The backup is saved to the cluster's local MinIO object storage.
Note: Per disaster recovery best practices, we strongly recommend periodically copying the snapshot to a secondary storage location for archival purposes.
GEOREDUNDANCY
Backup and Restore must be configured independently for both DC1 and DC2.
