Configuring Assigned Channel Defaults
The Assigned Channel Defaults screens allows for configuration of the default settings for new Assigned Channels. You can also set the default Rallypoint for Intercom Channels and Telephony.

When a new channel is created, its default settings will be those specified in the Assigned channel defaults section. This is useful for selecting commonly used Rallypoints, Codecs, and Languages (in addition to other options). Defaults may be overridden as normal during channel configuration or editing.
Configuring Assigned Channel Defaults is recommended, particularly when multiple admins are operating the server, or when creating channels rapidly is a factor. Admins in the field may not know the correct Rallypoint, Codec, or Language to select. With accurate Assigned channel defaults, admins can safely and quickly create Assigned channels.
Important: Incorrect Assigned channel defaults can propagate as other admins use the defaults to create new channels. Always ensure your Assigned channel defaults are correct and test any changes.
Use the following instructions to configure the defaults appearing to Admins creating new Assigned Channels.
To configure Assigned Channel Defaults
1. Navigate to Settings > Channels.
2. The
Assigned Channel Defaults panel is open by default and appears to the right of the Assigned Channels list. It can be toggled open or closed using the arrow in the right margin.

Open the Assigned Channel Defaults section open, perform the following:
A. Select Encryption if you want channel encryption to be the default.
B. Select Header Extensions to support user names and cross-mute. When disabled, user names during PTT appear as 'External System,' and cross-muting (if enabled) does not function.
C. Clear the Full Duplex option unless you want users to be able to transmit over each other on this channel. The default is half duplex, which is typical. Full duplex can become unintelligible when multiple users transmit simultaneously. Additionally, be aware that patching requires the same duplex between all patched channels.
D. In the Spoken Language menu, select the language for this channel. If translation is active, this channel will receive translations in this language.
E. In the Codec menu, select the Codec you want to appear as default.
F. In Frame size, specify the duration of audio samples in milliseconds. Larger sizes help maintain smooth playback, but at a higher latency. The default is 20ms.
G. Optionally, select Limit Transmit to limit the transmission time. If selected, specify the duration users can transmit in the Limit Transmit menu.
H. Optionally, select Rallypoint and specify the Rallypoint Group you want to appear as default.
3. In the Intercom Channel Defaults section, specify the Rallypoint Group for new Intercom Channels.
4. In the Telephony Defaults section, specify the Rallypoint Group used for Telephony.
5. Saving is not required. Once completed, click the New Channel button and verify the fields you modified are appearing correctly as the default.
