RallyPoints and Multicast
If you are using a RallyPoint for a channel, the cloud icon displays next to the channel name. If you are using Multicast for a channel, the cloud icon appears unlit and slashed.
RallyPoints enable the conversion of Multicast packets to Unicast, allowing the routing of Multicast communications over Unicast network segments (the Internet). Multicast transmissions cannot cross the internet without a RallyPoint. However, this does not mean you are disconnected from all other users, only those users outside your multicast network.
*RallyPoint Connected

Connect with anyone over the internet via a Unicast connection.
*RallyPoint Disconnected

Connection is limited to the boundaries of the current Multicast island.
*RallyPoint Timeout
You can specify the timeout used by a RallyPoint to determine when it should switch to Multicast. See Specifying Network Connection Check Times.
